Palisades Fire Devastates Historic Sites in California State Parks
The Palisades Fire has caused extensive damage to two iconic California State Parks. Historic landmarks, including the Will Rogers Ranch House at Will Rogers State Historic Park and the Topanga Ranch Motel at Topanga State Park, have been destroyed. High winds, reaching up to 80 mph, fueled the fire, resulting in the loss of over 30 structures across both parks.
Despite the destruction, State Parks personnel successfully evacuated horses and salvaged cultural artifacts from Will Rogers SHP before the fire reached critical areas. The public is encouraged to stay updated on wildfire conditions through CAL FIRE’s incidents page at fire.ca.gov/incidents and impacted parks via parks.ca.gov/incidents.
