CNY 2025: Hongbao Note Reservations Open January 7 in Singapore
In preparation for Chinese New Year on January 29-30, 2025, Singapore's major banks—DBS, OCBC, and UOB—will begin online reservations for new and fit-for-gifting hongbao notes starting January 7. Collections will be available from January 14, while walk-in exchanges are reserved for seniors aged 60+ and individuals with disabilities.
From January 14 to 28, DBS will offer 72 pop-up ATMs across 48 locations, a 50% increase in machines dispensing fit notes compared to 2024. OCBC will provide 24 ATMs at 13 locations, including Wisma Atria, Tampines, and Jurong Point, with expanded fit note availability.
To promote sustainability, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) encourages the use of fit notes or e-hongbao, which helped save significant carbon emissions in 2024. DBS is incentivizing e-gifting with prizes for customers utilizing digital hongbao options from January 7 to February 18.
